After forcing my best friend to listen to them (which made her fall in love, too), the day finally came, and we arrived, with fanny packs full of candy, to the venue. I had no idea if a) I was free, or b) I would have someone to go with, but impulsively I bought two balcony tickets for their Jan. I listened to their "all our songs" playlist on Spotify nonstop, and a week or two later, I discovered that the band was touring in LA. I think I listened to that song on repeat for the next full day - as one does - and after that, I was hooked. “Grateful that we get to do it.So I only discovered Hippo Campus after "Way It Goes" was put on my recommended list on Spotify in late November, but it definitely feels like it was destined to be. They recorded Wasteland at A Drop of Sun Studios in Asheville, North Carolina, where the band played the songs repeatedly to capture the best takes, then build on that production-wise. “This project is a really collaborative one and we all touched each song at a certain point,” Stocker says.
